Getting to the Roots, 2011

Lucinda Grange explores the limits of the built environment, accessing places and spaces that are for most unseen, hidden or simply out-of-bounds. She frequently delves below the city exploring and documenting lost rivers and infrastructures such as abandoned subway stations and labyrinth sewage systems.

Getting to the Roots was taken inside a live section of the New York Subway close to Manhattan Bridge. The red and orange lights of a passing subway train are evident in the image.
